Vice Chair
Cllr Jennifer Archer
I grew up in Buckinghamshire and worked both there and in London. It was my career that caused me to move North to Boots head office in Nottingham as the company's Training Analyst. As my career progressed, I worked in personnel, training and education for a broad range of companies, universities, local government and national organisations and this kept me in the North.
I have lived in Eckington with my husband for 42 years. Fortunately, both our professional careers, working in the UK and abroad, enabled us to stay here and both our children went to local Eckington schools before going to university. Some years ago, I decided to work for myself and develop my own company. Whilst I have always tried to participate and support local events and activities, I recently retired from my work as a health education and training specialist but am still a volunteer for Derbyshire Healthwatch and Eckington Sanctuary.
I was elected a parish councillor four years ago and was re-elected in the recent elections. I had always been determined that, when any opportunity arose to help in the community, I would do whatever I could; I continue to do so. In this regard, I have enjoyed and benefitted from working with many good friends, colleagues and local residents. The parish council covers several wards and sometimes changes need to be made and implemented and there are always new things to learn about: what has been done in the past? and how can we work as a team with our communities? This enables us to ensure that our area has a positive and vibrant future.
